Media Advisory: EPIC Wineries celebrate 150 years of Canadian winemaking with exhibit and speaker series

EPIC Wineries and Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) are celebrating 150 years of Canadian winemaking in Essex Pelee Island Coast Wine Country. A museum exhibit, “Toast to the Coast – An EPIC 150 Years”, has been created to tell the fascinating story of the evolution of our region’s wine industry from Vin Villa, built on Pelee Island in 1866 and now in ruins, to today’s thriving industry. An exclusive Speaker Series will also be offered to complement the exhibit.


The “Toast to the Coast – An EPIC 150 Years” museum exhibit will open on August 4th, 2017 and run until December 31st, 2017 at Windsor’s Chimczuk Museum.

Media Release – Sip & Savour County Fair Recipe Contest

Calling all kitchen crafters and creative cooks! What can you make with Leamington’s finest local ingredients? We’re cooking up a recipe contest for amateur chefs of all ages!


Grill, shake, stir, and bake, what will you make? Show us your best recipe from one of four delicious categories featuring) Del Fresco’s Sweet Rainbow Peppers, Lakeside Produce Tomatoes, Made in Leamington Strawberries, Caught Onthe42 Fish or take any Leamington grown ingredient – from land to lake – with Libro Credit Union’s Budget Bites challenge. Recipes will be judged on creativity, taste, flavor, and use of local ingredients.


Finalists chosen from the first round of judging will present their creations to local chefs, food experts and Food Network’s Chef Lynn Crawford at the Sip & Savour Experience on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Chef Lynn Crawford is an award-winning chef & cookbook author who has made regular appearances on Iron Chef America, Chopped Canada, Top Chef Master Series Season Five, Restaurant Makeover and Top Chef Canada.

Tourism Stakeholders “Experience Parts Unknown” and Prepare for Upcoming Season

On March 7th & 8th, the London Convention Centre will host nearly 250 tourism industry professionals as they learn about new ways to elevate their business at the 2017 Ontario’s Southwest Tourism Conference. The conference is an opportunity for delegates to network, learn about new trends and ensure they are up to date on the tourism industry. With a unique hands on experience, delegates of the conference will have the opportunity to “Experience Parts Unknown” and take a closer look at the unique opportunities the host city has to offer.


Currently, tourism in Ontario is growing at a healthy rate with more people choosing Ontario as their travel destination. In 2016, total inbound tourism was up 9.7%, including a 9.1% increase from the US; and outbound tourism was down 3.4%, showing more people are staying close to home.
