Elgin County Promotional Campaign Recognized Internationally

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presented Elgin County Economic Development with a Silver Award in the New Media category for its 2015 “Where in Elgin?” Facebook Video Contest. The award was presented at the IEDC annual conference in Cleveland, Ohio on September 27, 2016. This is the 8th time that Elgin County has received international recognition from IEDC.


“It is a tremendous honour for Elgin County to once again be recognized as one of the world’s best economic development programs,” said Elgin County Warden Bernie Wiehle. “The County has been able to successfully tap into the power of social media, using it to generate interest in our local tourism assets and raise the profile of businesses in our community.”

Middlesex County launches 2016 Invest in Middlesex County video series

Middlesex County is proud to release their latest round of “Invest in Middlesex” promotional videos. The series of eight videos profiles people and companies that make up the Middlesex economy and highlights the County’s economic development brand, “Invest in Middlesex County…we appreciate your business”.


The videos, officially launched at a special event at the County’s Administrative Office today, offer a thought-provoking look into local businesses, and the reasons why they call Middlesex County home.

Middlesex County launches new Trails Guide

Middlesex County is proud to announce their updated “Middlesex County Trails Guide”; a publication that provides residents and visitors to the area with detailed information on the numerous recreational trails found throughout the county. The new guide has been released under the tourism arm of the County “Visit Middlesex County” in partnership with Middlesex-London in motion™, Healthy Kids Community Challenge of Middlesex County, the Middlesex-London Health Unit, and all area conservation authorities.

1st Annual REGENERATE Food Festival Building Economic Growth for Communities in SW Ontario

Several groups from across the food value chain in SW Ontario have come together to spearhead and create the Regenerate – Farming, Food and Community Festival. This 4-day event will be held from Sept 29th to Oct 2nd in two communities – London and Ridgetown, Ontario. The festival’s main goal is to build rural economic development in SW Ontario around a food economy, as well as linking rural and urban communities together through food.


Multiple events will be held at various venues over the 4-days; each workshop/event will focus on educating and supporting: primary producers, consumers, tourists, chefs and culinary professionals. Everyone is invited to this first of its kind food festival.

Riders set out on the second annual Dunnville Grand Tour

On Saturday August 20 the two-day Dunnville Grand Tour brought out more than 300 riders for 25, 50, 75 and 100 kilometers rides along the lakeshore and Grand River in Haldimand County. Atilla Elek tour organizer has seen the increase in cycling tourism in Haldimand County in recent years and has organized the tour to help Dunnville capitalize on this trend. Cyclists travelled in from London, the GTA and elsewhere in Ontario to join in the weekend-long event.

New Head Winemaker at Burning Kiln Winery



Burning Kiln Winery names Lydia Tomek as Head Winemaker of the award-winning St. Williams based winery known for appassimento style wines.


Tomek has been selected as Head Winemaker at Burning Kiln Winery effective immediately. Tomek, a celebrated winemaker out of the Niagara region joins the Burning Kiln team with extensive knowledge of her craft, Tomek was Head Winemaker at Hernder Estate Wines where she spent the last ten years of her career. Tomek has also held winemaking positions at Hillebrand Winery and Jackson-Triggs.

Forked River Opening On-Site Taproom

Forked River Brewing has announced the upcoming opening of a new taproom at its retail outlet in London. On Saturday July 30th at 11:00 AM, the new bar in the expanded retail area at 45 Pacific Court, Unit 4 will start pouring glasses and samples of a variety of Forked River beers, including core brands such as Capital Blonde and Riptide Rye, and rotating seasonals.
