Henry Ford 150 Driving Tour wins award for Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island is revved up to announce winning the MotorCities National Heritage Area’s 2016 Award of Excellence in Tourism for the Henry Ford 150 Driving Tour.


Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island collaboratively worked together with MotorCities National Heritage Area, the Henry Ford Heritage Association, and the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, on launching the Henry Ford 150 Driving Tour as part of Henry Ford’s 150th birthday celebration. Spanning three years from 2013-2015, this celebration focused on the unique contributions and the legacy automotive industry titan, Henry Ford, had on both sides of the border.

With a Focus on Local and Organic Ingredients, The London Brewing Co-operative is Growing

logoIt’s official – The London Brewing Co-operative is on the move! The London Brewing Co-operative is thrilled to announce they are relocating to 521 Burbrook Place in the Old East Village this winter and expanding its operations to keep up with increasing demand for its truly local beers. The new home of this worker-owned brewery will include a tap room, retail space, and a larger brewing system. The brewery will be housed inside an innovative space shared with On The Move Organics, a local organic delivery company. The use of this space will create opportunities for visitors to better understand the value of local ingredients and to taste the benefits that they bring to the beer and other products.

Announcing Winners of the 2016 Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence

Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation-Announcing WinThe Ontario tourism industry’s best and brightest were celebrated at the annual Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at The Westin Ottawa. The Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence recognize industry successes by acknowledging those who have made significant contributions to Ontario’s tourism industry.


Jointly presented by the Culinary Tourism Alliance (CTA), the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC) and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO), the Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence are divided into three respective categories. The Culinary Tourism Awards of Excellence are about the passion and excellence of those dedicated to advancing food tourism in Ontario, and recognizing those who work hard to tell the stories of our growers, producers, chefs, winemakers and brewers. The Tourism Marketing and Travel Media Awards of Excellence celebrate those who contribute to Ontario’s tourism industry through impactful partnerships, marketing activities and media relations. The Tourism Industry Awards of Excellence are presented to organizations, businesses and individuals that represent the quality of outstanding offerings that make Ontario a world-class destination.

Haldimand County Economic Development and Tourism Division Recognized Nationally for Marketing Excellence

Haldimand County Economic Development and Tourism Division was presented with a 2016 Marketing Canada Award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada in Saskatoon on October 25th.


The Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) is Canada’s national association of over 1,000 economic development professionals, representing every province and territory across Canada. The Association recognizes that marketing a community is an integral part of economic development. The Economic Developers Association of Canada’s Marketing Canada Awards acknowledge and celebrate communities who excel in marketing. Submissions of promotional and marketing material produced by large and small municipalities across the country are entered into this prestigious competition.

Elgin County Promotional Campaign Recognized Internationally

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presented Elgin County Economic Development with a Silver Award in the New Media category for its 2015 “Where in Elgin?” Facebook Video Contest. The award was presented at the IEDC annual conference in Cleveland, Ohio on September 27, 2016. This is the 8th time that Elgin County has received international recognition from IEDC.


“It is a tremendous honour for Elgin County to once again be recognized as one of the world’s best economic development programs,” said Elgin County Warden Bernie Wiehle. “The County has been able to successfully tap into the power of social media, using it to generate interest in our local tourism assets and raise the profile of businesses in our community.”

Middlesex County launches 2016 Invest in Middlesex County video series

Middlesex County is proud to release their latest round of “Invest in Middlesex” promotional videos. The series of eight videos profiles people and companies that make up the Middlesex economy and highlights the County’s economic development brand, “Invest in Middlesex County…we appreciate your business”.


The videos, officially launched at a special event at the County’s Administrative Office today, offer a thought-provoking look into local businesses, and the reasons why they call Middlesex County home.

Middlesex County launches new Trails Guide

Middlesex County is proud to announce their updated “Middlesex County Trails Guide”; a publication that provides residents and visitors to the area with detailed information on the numerous recreational trails found throughout the county. The new guide has been released under the tourism arm of the County “Visit Middlesex County” in partnership with Middlesex-London in motion™, Healthy Kids Community Challenge of Middlesex County, the Middlesex-London Health Unit, and all area conservation authorities.

1st Annual REGENERATE Food Festival Building Economic Growth for Communities in SW Ontario

Several groups from across the food value chain in SW Ontario have come together to spearhead and create the Regenerate – Farming, Food and Community Festival. This 4-day event will be held from Sept 29th to Oct 2nd in two communities – London and Ridgetown, Ontario. The festival’s main goal is to build rural economic development in SW Ontario around a food economy, as well as linking rural and urban communities together through food.


Multiple events will be held at various venues over the 4-days; each workshop/event will focus on educating and supporting: primary producers, consumers, tourists, chefs and culinary professionals. Everyone is invited to this first of its kind food festival.

Riders set out on the second annual Dunnville Grand Tour

On Saturday August 20 the two-day Dunnville Grand Tour brought out more than 300 riders for 25, 50, 75 and 100 kilometers rides along the lakeshore and Grand River in Haldimand County. Atilla Elek tour organizer has seen the increase in cycling tourism in Haldimand County in recent years and has organized the tour to help Dunnville capitalize on this trend. Cyclists travelled in from London, the GTA and elsewhere in Ontario to join in the weekend-long event.
