United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Back in 2015, numerous world leaders committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, consisting of 17 goals to be achieved by the year 2030. This ambitious plan primarily aims to fight poverty, reduce inequalities, and combat climate change. With the size and power of the tourism industry, it has a direct or indirect impact on each of the sustainable development goals. This is understandable since everything is connected. However, the tourism industry is primarily responsible for goals 8 (decent work and economic growth), 12 (responsible consumption and production) and 14 (life below water).
