Ontario’s Southwest Regional Tourism Organization (OSW) is one of the 11 provincially funded Regional Tourism Organizations (RTO) across the province of Ontario, reporting to the Ministry of Tourism Culture & Gaming. OSW is responsible for the execution of the organization’s strategy as set by the Board of Directors, in concert with tourism partners and Destination Management/Marketing Organizations (DMO’s) across the region.

About the Role
The Digital Content Specialist plays a key role in OSW’s destination marketing efforts by developing and managing content across digital platforms. This position is responsible for creating and curating written and visual content for the organization’s website and social media channels.
This role translates strategic marketing goals into compelling digital content that takes consumers through the guest journey. It also plays a hands-on role in content planning, production, distribution, performance analysis and reporting to ensure owned and earned marketing KPIs are met.

Key Areas of Responsibilities
Social Media Management – Manage OSW’s consumer-facing social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube), including day-to-day planning, content creation, publishing, and monitoring. Stay up to date on social media trends and best practices to evolve strategies that position OSW as an innovative leader in the tourism space.
Website Management – Oversee the day-to-day management of the consumer-facing website, ensuring all content including listings, blogs, itineraries, landing pages, and microsites support the organization’s brand and marketing objectives. Using OSW’s designated online platform, create and update pages, enhance site structure, and improve the overall user experience based on performance data and industry best practices. Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to align content strategies to drive traffic to support campaigns.
Project Management – Support vendors and be the main liaison for OSW’s videography and photography partnerships.
Business Plan – Work with Marketing & Communications Manager to implement the marketing objectives and tactics outlined in the business plan, and track progress to ensure accurate, timely reporting to the Ministry.
Industry Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with tourism operators, DMOs, and other regional partners to source content, stay informed on developments, and ensure regional representation.
Collaboration & Flexibility – Support a collaborative team environment by communicating clearly with colleagues, adapting to evolving project needs, and contributing to cross-functional initiatives. Participate in quarterly in-market visits with the OSW team.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience
Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum 1-2 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in tourism or a related sector
Proven experience in content strategy, digital content creation, and channel management
Technical Skills
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro), and Canva
CMS/CRM management (i.e. Granicus, Squarespace) and Survey Development Software (i.e. Survey Monkey)
A strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Comfortable using various AI tools to enhance content production
Ability to capture content on a mobile device
Digital & Communication Skills
Exceptional writing, editing, and visual storytelling abilities
Deep knowledge of social media platforms and planning tools
Experience managing web platforms

Job Details
Location: Remote
Travel: Occasional travel required - your mileage will be reimbursed

Position Type: Full-time, 1-year contract
Salary: Hourly rate is $22.00 to $25.50, with flexibility based on experience; group benefits eligibility and details are negotiable.
Direct Reports: There could be oversight of vendors/contract staff.
Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Key Working Relationships: OSW internal team, Agency of Record, DMOs, tourism operators, and external vendors.
